my background

Reactor design, development and modeling

  • Isobutane dehydrogenation to isobutene: fired tube reactor
  • Ethylene trimerization to 1-hexene: CSTR
  • Propylene dimerization to 4-methyl 1-pentene
  • Glucose hydrogenation to hexane, bubble column
  • Dynamic model of commercial fixed bed demonstrating cause of temperature runaway during startup

Kinetic model development

  • Obtained kinetic rate data for isobutane deyhdrogenation using Berty reactor
  • Developed numerical kinetic model of Ryton (R) polymerization to predict molecular weight distribution
  • Aided catalyst developers in designing experiments to obtain kinetic data for other systems

Process simulation

Developed models using: Aspen Plus, Hysys, Chemcad

Optimization

Long distance gas transportation; barge fleet size for chemical transport

Fluid dynamics

  • Used Fluent (R) CFD program to improve processes
  • Aided in design of offshore pipelines using OLGA (R)
  • Developed kinetic model of wax deposition in oil and condensate pipelines

Employment

  • Current: Independent consultant
  • Past: Phillips Petroleum and DuPont

Patents

8 US patents
